چکیده

A total of 360 monosex Nile tilapia (O. niloticus) fingerlings (mean individual initial weight = 30.8 ± 2.0 g) were divided into eight equal treatments, including a control. Each treatment, the control, consisted three replicates (15 fish per replicate). The in control group fed basal diet containing 25% protein. In other 7 was supplemented with pomegranate peel at rate 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 15, or 20%. For 90 days, diets 3 times daily to 5% body weight. Afterwords, from each replicate and treatment groups exposed temperature 4oC. first mortality recorded 47.3 seconds group. While exhibited delay time compared Also, different salinities 25, 37‰ for 6 days. 100% 25 salinity, while those 15‰ salinity 0% mortality. present results showed that feeding pomegranate-enriched could improve stressors resistance tilapia.

Effect of Different Salinity Levels on Growth and Survival of Nile Tilapia (oreochromis Niloticus)

A three months study was conducted in cemented tanks (2.896ft×0.762ft×0.914ft) to investigate the effect of different salinity levels on growth performance and survival of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Four salinity levels i.e. 1600 ppm in Treatment 1 (TI), 2400 ppm in TII, 3200 ppm in TIII and 4000 ppm in TIV were maintained while in control (T0) the salinity level was 800 ppm. Each tr...

Effect of salinity on food consumption and growth of juvenile Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus L.)

The effect of salinity (0, lO and 20%o, water temperature 28 ± l oC) on food consumption and growth of juvenile Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus L. (9.94 ± 0.15 g) were investigated by feeding group of 20 fish at 2% body weight day·• Individual food consumption was measured using X-radiography. There were no significant differences in growth or white muscle protein concenrrarions among group...

Screening and identification of microsatellite markers associated with cold tolerance in Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus.

Tilapia is an important fish cultured in tropical and subtropical areas. Cold sensitivity limits the expansion of tilapia culture into colder regions of the world, and mass mortalities of cultured tilapia have been reported due to severe cold currents in winter. Since the late 1990s, several strains of Nile tilapia have been domesticated to improve the ability to adapt to low temperatures. Prev...

Visual communication stimulates reproduction in Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus (L.).

Reproductive fish behavior is affected by male-female interactions that stimulate physiological responses such as hormonal release and gonad development. During male-female interactions, visual and chemical communication can modulate fish reproduction. The aim of the present study was to test the effect of visual and chemical male-female interaction on the gonad development and reproductive beh...

Behaviours Associated with Acoustic Communication in Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)

BACKGROUND Sound production is widespread among fishes and accompanies many social interactions. The literature reports twenty-nine cichlid species known to produce sounds during aggressive and courtship displays, but the precise range in behavioural contexts is unclear. This study aims to describe the various Oreochromis niloticus behaviours that are associated with sound production in order t...
